Speech & Swallowing Therapy for Adults
~ CCSS accepts clients with Medicare coverage ~
Parkinson's, Dementia, & Other Progressive Neurological Diseases
The effects of progressive neurological diseases like Parkinson's can impact your ability to communicate and swallow. We use proven treatment approaches like SPEAK OUT! to help you speak loud and clear, along with cognitive exercises to keep therapy interesting and challenging. We also use advanced techniques such as Neuromuscular Electrical Stimulation (NMES) to treat swallowing disorders. Whether your goal is to regain your ability to eat, or to keep your swallow strong throughout the progression of your disease, NMES will help you achieve faster results than traditional exercises alone.
Head & Neck Cancers
While radiation and other treatments work to fight cancer, they can also cause swallowing challenges down the road. If you are struggling with hydration or nutrition, or experiencing reduced pleasure at mealtimes, we can help! Our swallowing therapy sessions include a combination of manual therapy techniques and Neuromuscular Electrical Stimulation (NMES) to break up fibrotic tissues and retrain your swallowing muscles. You will also be equipped with home exercises to make quick and lasting progress. Our goal is to get you back to eating the foods you love and to restore the joy of sharing a meal with loved ones.
Stroke, TBI, & Brain Injury Rehabilitation
Language and cognitive deficits following a stroke or head injury can make it harder to connect with loved ones and live independently. The good news is that your brain can repair those functions with the right support! We will provide you with exercises and strategies to improve your memory, verbal expression, language comprehension, reading and writing skills, and more. If you are struggling with aphasia, visual neglect, or memory challenges after your incident, it is never too late to make progress. Our sessions will focus on helping you reach your goals - whether that means returning to work, engaging in hobbies, or reading a book to your grandchildren again.
Voice Disorders
Are you experiencing changes in your voice quality or strength? At CCSS, our approach to voice treatment includes teaching you how to maximize your vocal power and clarity while maintaining healthy voice habits. Voice disorders include vocal nodules, polyps, cysts, vocal fold paresis or paralysis, as well as functional disorders like muscle tension dysphonia and vocal cord dysfunction. Voice disorders are diagnosed by a physician, and speech therapy is often recommended before or during the course of medical interventions. We can support you at any stage of your voice rehabilitation journey and get you back to sounding like yourself.
